Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for Instructors for the AGENTs Teacher Program funded by the DOD SMC Cyber Institute. The vision of the University of North Georgia (UNG) AGENTs (Advancing Georgia Education for New Technologies) is to work with and through K-12 teachers to inspire the next generation of cyber professionals in northern Georgia and to help solve the nation's shortfall of skilled cybersecurity professionals.
Our goals are to increase interest in cybersecurity, increase diversity in the cyber workforce, help students and teachers understand correct and safe online behavior, and improve teaching methods and cyber content for K-12 curricula. The standards-based content will reinforce cybersecurity concepts through hands-on exercises.
Our goal for the AGENT K-12 Instructor position is to hire quality CS and cyber educators to support the in-person cyber camp. The AGENT Camp Instructor is responsible for approximately 40 in-person contact hours teaching or facilitating instruction, assisting the lead faculty with hands-on activities in coding, cybersecurity, pedagogical support, and extension exercises, plus preparation, producing lesson plans, and associated duties as needed.
All AGENT instructors should have successful experience teaching cyber in K-12 schools and experience mentoring or leading other teachers, preferably in computer science. The program requires that K-12 teachers be pedagogical experts in the curriculum development and camp delivery. Camp staff selection must align with the needs and abilities of the target audience. AGENT K-12 instructors will further enhance learning and foster best practices in teacher education and professional development.
Therefore, to meet these requirements, we seek to recruit applicants that meet the Georgia Professional Standards Commission requirements for teacher mentorship.
The dates for the in-person portion of the program are June 8 - June 12, plus pre-camp meetings.
Compensation: $1,500 for in-person camp.
Please be advised that any offer of employment is contingent upon your eligibility to work in the United States. The university is aware of recent federal changes that may significantly increase the cost of filing H-1B visa petitions.
As a public institution, the university's ability to cover such costs is subject to budgetary constraints and state funding policies. Therefore, while we remain committed to supporting international faculty hires, we cannot guarantee payment of any newly imposed or increased visa-related fees.
If you have any questions regarding the visa policy, please contact Monica Arrendale at .
