Job Summary

The University of North Georgia (UNG) is currently accepting applications for the position of Collection Management Librarian
- Print Resources. This is a 12-month, full-time tenure track position. Position will require occasional travel between campuses.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the planning and management of the library's print and individual e-books to support teaching, learning, and research. This position oversees selection, acquisitions, purchasing and maintenance of materials, ensuring collections remain current and relevant.
  • The Collection Management Librarian
    - Print Resources collaborates with the Collection Management Librarian
    - Electronic Resources Strategist, faculty, and subject librarians to align resources with academic programs, conducts robust collection analysis, and develops policies and procedures.
  • Lead the strategy for developing and maintaining print collections, circulating materials, and individual e-book equivalents to support curriculum and research needs.
  • Evaluate current subject-based selection practices and recommend improvements or restructuring to ensure consistency, efficiency, and alignment with library goals.
  • Select, evaluate, and acquire books and individual e-books, based on policies, usage data, reviews, and faculty input.
  • Conduct collection assessment and weeding projects to remove outdated or low-use materials; communicate criteria and outcomes to stakeholders.
  • In concert with the Collection Management Librarian
    - Electronic Resources Strategist develop and maintain collection development policies and procedures; ensure faculty are kept informed about collection updates and decisions regarding print and circulating resources.
  • Respond to purchase recommendations from faculty, staff, and students; communicate decisions based on policy and strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with subject librarians and faculty to support academic programs and research needs; serve as selector to assigned departments/programs.
  • Participate in Information Literacy and research consultations.
  • Perform curriculum mapping and collection analysis to align resources with course syllabi, learning outcomes, and accreditation requirements.
  • Provide training and guidance to librarians and staff on collection management tools and workflows; maintain clear documentation of procedures.
  • Coordinate the review, evaluation, and processing of donated materials; ensure alignment with collection development policies; communicate with donors regarding acceptance, restrictions, and acknowledgments.
  • Represent the library and/or university at campus, local, state, regional, and/or national meetings and conferences.
  • Work with campus partners across multiple units through service on committees and/or holding office.
  • Participate in scholarship through publications, research, and/or presentations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
