Planetarium Assistant
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Planetarium Assistant to work in the George
E. Coleman, Sr. Planetarium. The Planetarium Assistant reports directly to the Planetarium Director.
The Planetarium Assistant will:
- Learn the planetarium Digistar 2026 operating software and open and closing procedures.
- Learn the content for public planetarium shows.
- Be available on Friday nights and present to public audiences during planetarium shows.
- Promote safety and cleanliness of the planetarium facility.
- Stay informed about current astronomical news and events.
- Option to present on weekday mornings, Saturday special events, or write content for shows.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Basic astronomy knowledge. Must be comfortable with public speaking and enjoy interacting with people of all ages.
Required Qualifications Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker. Preference will be given to physics or education majors and students with experience presenting. Successful candidate must be available on Friday nights. Prior experience working in a planetarium is a plus, but not required.
