Planetarium Assistant
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Planetarium Assistant to work in the George
E. Coleman, Sr. Planetarium. The Planetarium Assistant reports directly to the Planetarium Director.
The Planetarium Assistant will:
- Learn the planetarium Digistar 2026 operating software and open and closing procedures.
- Learn the content for public planetarium shows.
- Be available on Friday nights and present to public audiences during planetarium shows.
- Promote safety and cleanliness of the planetarium facility.
- Stay informed about current astronomical news and events.
- Option to present on weekday mornings, Saturday special events, or write content for shows.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic astronomy knowledge. Must be comfortable with public speaking and enjoy interacting with people of all ages.
Required Qualifications:
Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker. Preference will be given to physics or education majors and students with experience presenting. Successful candidate must be available on Friday nights. Prior experience working in a planetarium is a plus, but not required.
