Job Summary

The University of North Georgia Campus Recreation & Wellness Department is currently accepting applications for a Rowing Assistant-Institutional Student Worker. The rowing assistant reports to the Coordinator of Sport Clubs, as well as the rowing coach and assists with the day-to-day operations of the rowing program. This position will serve as a support person assisting with team tryouts, rosters, practices, competitions, and program administration.

The role will require working a flexible schedule, including some early mornings, evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities
  • Develop an effective working relationship with the coach and team members to assist with the administration of the rowing program.
  • Assist with record keeping, team rosters, departmental forms, and social media.
  • Assist with equipment inventory, inspections, light maintenance, and storage.
  • Assist with team trainings to help members develop skills, teamwork, stamina, and strength.
  • Responsible for adhering to all policies, procedures, and risk management protocols of both UNG and Lake Lanier Rowing Club.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of rowing technique, skills, rules, and terminology.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Self-motivation, enthusiasm, and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
  • Experience with competitive rowing teams.
  • CPR & First Aid Certification (or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment).
  • US Rowing membership or other national rowing association membership (or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment).
  • US Rowing Level 1 Certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment or when the next scheduled Level 1 Course is available).
  • Georgia Boating License (or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in coaching preferred.
