Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a federal work study student in the College of Arts & Letters department on the Gainesville campus. The Box Office Student Assistant supports the daily operations of the Gainesville Theatre Alliance's ticketing office by serving as a primary point of contact for patrons. This role focuses on delivering high‑quality customer service while assisting with ticket sales, exchanges, and general inquiries related to performances.

The position also contributes to front‑of‑house operations by helping create a welcoming and organized environment for all guests. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work in a team‑oriented setting.

Responsibilities
  • Processes ticket sales, exchanges, and donations using the ticketing system while handling cash and electronic transactions accurately.
  • Assists patrons in person and over the phone by providing information about performance schedules, seating options, pricing, and policies.
  • Greets and directs guests, helps manage lobby flow before and during events, and ensures a positive patron experience.
  • Maintains organized records and supplies, and assists with general office tasks such as filing, data entry, and preparation for performances.
  • Supports the Audience Services Manager and front‑of‑house operations and collaborates with staff to ensure smooth event execution.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, both in person and over the phone.
  • Ability to learn ticketing and point‑of‑sale systems with attention to detail and accuracy in transactions.
  • Dependable, organized, and able to multitask in a fast‑paced environment while remaining professional under pressure.
  • Works well independently and as part of a team, with strong problem‑solving skills and adaptability.
Required Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
