Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is accepting applications for a full‑time, benefited Medical Assistant position at Student Health Services with majority of duties on the Oconee Campus.

Responsibilities include both clinical and administrative duties such as triage, vital signs, telehealth facilitation, basic first aid, in‑house laboratory tests, specimen collections and processing, phlebotomy, medication and injection administration, patient education, and processing immunizations for incoming students. Navigation of healthcare technology and recognition of emergency situations are required. The position requires collaboration across campuses, occasional weekend work for special events, and technology skills for electronic health records, UNG Banner system, and telehealth programs.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate telehealth visits between patient and provider and troubleshoot telehealth equipment.
  • Obtain chief complaint and vital signs, perform phlebotomy and CLIA‑waived laboratory tests, process lab specimens, and administer medications and vaccines under the supervision of a licensed medical provider.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of patient education and promotion of Student Health Services programming, and support campus Well‑Being initiatives and committee services.
  • Maintain accurate and legible documentation across EMR and Banner systems and adapt quickly to new digital tools.
  • Maintain clinic and self‑care vending supplies and assist with ordering.
  • Follow FERPA and HIPAA regulations and protect confidentiality.
  • Attend meetings as required and serve on campus committees; assist with Nighthawk previews, orientations, and other special events as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with HIPAA and FERPA regulations and patient confidentiality.
  • Organized, communicates well, and demonstrates interpersonal skills with students, faculty/staff, and parents.
  • Demonstrates ability to navigate healthcare technology, quickly learn, utilize, and troubleshoot telehealth equipment through prior technology experience.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required or equivalent education and experience.
  • Certification as a Clinical Medical Assistant and AHA CPR and AED certification required.
  • Minimum two years of experience as a certified medical assistant or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in family practice or urgent care preferred.
