Position Title: ESEP Lead Teacher - Elementary

Reports To: Principal and Coordinator of ESEP
Work Schedule: 190 days/8 hr.
Grade/Level: LTSS/STSS
FLSA: Exempt
Primary Function: Knowledge of all Special Education processes including due process, IEPs, and scheduling. Knowledge of Special Education law and compliance. Demonstrated communication skills.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
- Monitors due process procedures/timelines for all students with disabilities
- Coordinates and verifies state and federal funding counts
- Coordinate assessments
- Assists in conducting Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings
- Assists with coordination of area meetings and dissemination of information
- Mentor teachers as assigned
- Demonstrates effective teaching strategies and interventions for students with disabilities
- Serves as the contact person for RTI/SST
- Demonstrates ability to problem solve and diffuse difficult situations
- Instructs or consults with students with disabilities when necessary
- Serves as case manager for students on consult
- Assists with end of the year procedures
- Serves as liaison between special education and regular education staff within the school
- Provides direct support to special education teachers
- Demonstrates clear, professional oral and written communication
- Provides training to school staff
- Review and finalize IEPs
- Performs other duties as directed by Superintendent or designee

Requirements:
A valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in assigned teaching field as required by the Professional Standards Commission:
- Special Education General Curriculum; or
- Special Education Adaptive Curriculum; or
- Other Special Education field
- Certification in one or more academic content areas (P-5), (4-8), (6-12), or (P-12) is preferred
The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
