Job SummaryThe Speech Language Associate is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a school environment, overseen by the school principal, SLP Lead, and SLP Coordinator, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount.
All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. Moreover, they must embody the core belief that every action we take is driven by a commitment to the best interests of our students.

Primary Function: Provide related educational support or direct intervention for all students with instructional needs in the areas of communication disorders under the direction of a certified Speech and Language Pathologist.
Working Conditions:

- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard
- Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone
- Seeing to read a variety of materials
- Sitting for extended periods of time
- Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching to file materials
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Communication Disorders or Speech and Language Pathology from a GaPSC accepted accredited institution OR Completion of a state approved certification preparation program in Speech Language Associate at the bachelor level or higher.
- Pass the GACE content assessment, as required for certification in the field.
- The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
