Job Summary:
The Executive Director of Secondary Teaching & Learning is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a office environment, overseen by the Assistant Superintendent, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount.
All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. Moreover, they must embody the core belief that every action we take is driven by a commitment to the best interests of our students.

Primary Functions:
The Executive Director of Secondary Teaching and Learning is a key instructional leadership position that drives continuous improvement and ensures high-quality educational opportunities for all secondary students. The Executive Director supports and enhances principals' instructional leadership capacity through coaching, professional development, evaluation, and the implementation of systems to improve academic outcomes.
The Executive Director serves as a liaison between the Teaching and Learning Department and school leaders, ensuring effective two-way communication, collaboration, and coherence between the district and schools. The position provides leadership and vision for the Teaching and Learning department, ensuring the coherence of instructional programming, resources, and strategies to support schools and student learning.

Qualifications:
Must hold or be eligible for a Georgia Level 6 certification or higher in Educational Leadership or related field.
Five (5) years of education administrative experience and/or central office experience required. Secondary school principal experience preferred.
Demonstrated evidence of successful instructional leadership resulting in improved outcomes for students.
Broad base of academic and accountability experience with a thorough understanding of applicable state and federal laws and Local Board of Education rules and regulations
Highly skilled in interpersonal communication, leadership coaching, critical conversations, and conflict resolution
Demonstrates sound judgment, initiative, and responsibility
The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
Essential Functions:
I. Leadership & Supervision

Selects, leads, and develops secondary principals. Provides instructional leadership coaching and supervision to drive continuous school improvement aligned with district strategic goals.

Supports the selection process for all secondary administrative positions to create a leadership pipeline of promotion-ready leaders.

Sets clear expectations for secondary instructional leadership and high-quality instructional practice.
4
Conducts school visits, classroom walkthroughs, and data analysis to support principal coaching, feedback, and accountability.

Supports and monitors the development of individual principal professional growth goals and school improvement goals.

Designates and prioritizes time for principal coaching, school visits, and support.
