- Middle School is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a school environment, overseen by the school principal, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount.
All staff are expected to adhere to ethical standards and demonstrate a commitment to the best interests of students.
Provide instruction, assess and encourage student progress; manage the learning environment, complying with state and district regulations and policies.
Working ConditionsClassroom Environment;
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard;
Hearing and speaking to exchange information;
Seeing to read a variety of materials;
Sitting for extended periods of time;
Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching to file materials.
- A valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in assigned teaching field as required by the Professional Standards Commission.
- Must possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credentials as required for the position.
- The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
- Complete designated follow-up procedures for students referred for special education services.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and annually review the Individual Education Program (I.E.P.) of each eligible student on the caseload.
- Work with parents in all aspects of their child's educational program.
- Supervise paraprofessionals assigned to provide support to selected students in resource, self-contained and/or regular class settings.
- Compile, maintain and submit all required reports in a timely manner.
- Provide educational services according to program guidelines and the established delivery model.
- Assure that all due process procedural safeguards are afforded students and their parents.
- Use special methodology for instruction, according to population needs.
- Implement assistive technology as indicated according to IEP.
- Effectively utilize available technology in the development of the IEP and related documents.
- Use carefully designed behavior management strategies, as indicated.
- Administer ongoing evaluations of student progress toward mastery of established goals and objectives, and report progress to parents.
- Serve as a resource to the regular education teachers who teach mainstreamed exceptional students.
- Perform special duties required for meeting the unique needs of specific populations including but not limited to lifting physically handicapped students.
- Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credentials as may be required for this position.
- Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, and punctual manner.
- Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to assignment.
- Review current developments, literature and technical source information related to job responsibilities.
- Ensure confidentiality of student information.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures.
- Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience preferable.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
