Job Overview

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, network, and supply‑chain specialists to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity to our customers.

As a Data Center Commissioning Engineer (CxE) you will be part of the Amazon Commissioning team (ACx) that evaluates construction quality for Amazon‑owned data centers. You will support vendors, contractors, and internal teams during the construction and commissioning of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems.

• Review design documents and lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT) for electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
• Manage third‑party commissioning vendors, ensuring compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements.
• Lead system‑level, integrated, and test script development for multiple projects.
• Provide weekly status reports and lessons‑learned documentation to improve program quality.
• Collaborate with AWS engineering, capacity delivery, operations, and contractor teams to coordinate site activities and resolve issues.

• Walk job sites in uneven terrain and work at heights from ladders.
• Regularly walk, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Lift or move up to 49 pounds and participate in group lifts for 50 pounds or more.
• Work shifts longer than eight hours with potential for night and weekend work.
• Perform physical tasks in noisy, colder, or hotter environments.

• Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 80 % of the year.
• Required to provide personal transportation for meetings and job visits away from the office; reimbursed.
• US citizenship required.

• 5+ years of engineering, installation, or commissioning experience with electrical and mechanical systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or 5+ years of relevant discipline work experience.
• High technical competency in mechanical, electrical, or control systems used in critical infrastructures.
• Ability to review design documentation, vendor submittals, and sequences of operations and provide feedback consistent with Amazon standards.
• Develop and review commissioning documentation such as test plans, scripts, and reports.

• Experience developing and executing test procedures for mechanical or electrical systems based on design intent and approved equipment submittals.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and SharePoint (or similar).
• Strong communication skills, detail oriented, highly organized, and able to work in high‑stress environments.
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for critical infrastructures.
• Ability to read and edit construction documents (design drawings, control diagrams, specifications, etc.).

Salary range: USD 116,800 – 160,000 annually (location dependent). Compensation includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
