Job Summary: The School Clinic Assistant is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a school environment, overseen by the school Principal and Lead Nurse, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount.
All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. Moreover, they must embody the core belief that every action we take is driven by a commitment to the best interests of our students.
Primary Function: Assist school nurses in providing basic health services to students at school-based clinics. Knowledge of basic health office practices, terminology, procedures, and equipment. Knowledge of health and safety regulations. Ability to operate a computer and assigned software. Knowledge of record-keeping and report preparation techniques. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.

- Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching to file materials
- Lifting students and lifting to 40 pounds, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling.
- Ability to assist students in emergency situations requiring a quick pace traversing stairs or hills.
- Minimum of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate required
- Must possess First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Health/first aid field experience including some training and experience in pediatrics and emergency medical care
- Training in blood borne pathogen procedures is desirable
- The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
