Registered Nurse; RN- Acute Care- Med Surg​/Post Surgical Fulltime Day Shift

Job Summary

Full time 7am‑7pm shift. Magnet designated with 4‑Star CMS scores for patient satisfaction. 28‑bed medical‑surgical unit primarily post‑surgical with telemetry and general med‑surg. Prism award‑winning floor dedicated to exceptional patient care, high empathy, positive energy.

• Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence‑based practice, analytical and critical thinking to ensure individualized care.
• Provides relationship‑based patient‑centered care consistent with population‑specific characteristics and adapts service delivery to reflect cultural diversity.
• Partners with the patient and significant others using appropriate methods for setting and purpose (bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds, just‑in‑time and planned patient teaching) and keeps patients’ goals as the focus of the plan of care.
• Practices using current clinical practice standards.

• Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model, including timely documentation and inclusive interdisciplinary communication.
• Demonstrates fiscal responsibility and supports recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
• Participates and supports performance improvement initiatives inclusive of all stakeholders, research utilization, and active participation in shared governance at all system levels.

• Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population‑specific education.
• Serves as preceptor and/or mentor for other professional nurses and staff or students across all disciplines, ensuring a qualified future workforce and modeling professional practice.

• Promotes evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement in nursing; participates in activities such as value analysis during decision making.
• Upholds all health‑care system policies, procedures, clinical competencies, legal and regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards, including TJC Patient Safety Goals.
• Participates in data collection, asks relevant clinical questions, consults experts, and uses appropriate resources to address practice questions.

• Proactively plans for patient care across the continuum while providing direct patient care.
• Contributes to development of protocols and procedures when called upon or through self‑initiation in collaboration with team members to achieve best‑practice outcomes.
• Supports efficient and effective use of human and material resources.
• Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

• Associate’s degree in Nursing or Diploma (RN);
  Bachelor’s preferred.

• RN license in the state of employment (single state) or RN–COMPACT (multi‑state). BLS or equivalent required upon hire.
• Applicable specialty certifications, if any, as required for the safety and quality of care.

• Minimum two (2) years of direct patient‑care nursing experience.

• Ability to read, write and speak English; proficient use of technology and basic computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer‑service skills.
• Capability to function in a fast‑paced environment, respond to emergencies with decisiveness, composure, and respect.
• Excellent time‑management, analytical, and critical‑thinking skills. Demonstrates evidence‑based nursing practice.
