ME Living & COCAS provide safe housing and wraparound support for survivors of domestic violence, homelessness, and justice-involved individuals. Our homes need calm, consistent, safety-focused staff who can keep order, document what happens, and support the team when crises arise.
Position OverviewThe House Security / Safety Monitor is responsible for maintaining a safe, stable, and respectful environment in our program homes. This role is a mix of security, documentation, and support
; you are the eyes and ears in the house, making sure clients follow rules, incidents are documented, and staff are alerted when something is wrong.
You will:
Monitor safety in and around the property
Enforce basic house rules (curfew, visitors, sign-in/out)
Complete detailed notes and incident reports so our case managers and therapists know whats happening in the home
There is room to grow into a Lead House Security role for staff who show strong judgment, reliability, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities Safety & SecurityMonitor entrances, common areas, and surrounding property for safety concerns
Conduct regular rounds and wellness checks on residents as directed
Respond calmly to conflicts, disturbances, or crises and de‑escalate when possible
Immediately report serious safety issues to on‑call leadership and follow emergency protocols
Enforce curfew times
, sign‑in/out procedures, and visitor rulesMaintain accurate visitor logs and ensure only approved visitors enter the home
Support consistent application of house rules while treating residents with dignity and respect
Complete daily shift notes summarizing what happened during your shift
Create detailed incident reports for fights, rule violations, injuries, police or EMS involvement, and other significant events
Document curfew compliance, late returns, and any behavior that impacts safety or housing stability
Enter notes into our system or on our forms the same day / same shift
Communicate clearly with case managers, therapists, house managers, and leadership about safety issues
Participate in quick check‑ins or team huddles to share patterns or concerns (e.g., repeated curfew violations, tension between residents)
Follow instructions from program leadership and contribute to a calm, trauma-informed environment
Prior experience in security, residential programs, shelters, corrections, group homes, or similar is helpful but not required
Ability to stay calm under pressure and follow safety protocols
Strong observation and documentation skills able to write clear, simple, factual notes
Comfortable working with individuals who may be:
Survivors of domestic violence
Recently homeless
Coming out of jail or prison
Managing mental health and substance use challenges
Reliable, on time, and willing to work evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays as needed
Must be able to pass background checks required by our programs

- Pay Range:
House Security / Safety Monitor: starting around $14/hour (depending on experience)
Enhanced / Lead House Security: up to $
16/hour for staff who:Consistently complete high‑quality notes & incident reports
Help coordinate safety across multiple houses or shifts
Show strong judgment and leadership
