Youth Pastor Position Description Position Scope
The youth pastor will lead and organize a year-round weekly ministry program to reach middle school and high school‑age youth of Dallas, Oregon, teaching them to become disciples of Christ in accordance with Biblical principles.
General Responsibilities- Oversee middle and high school ministries, including weekly programs and other special events. Develop strategic plans and goals for leadership and discipleship of youth.
- Support EBC’s vision and goals.
- Fulfill the duties of the ministry in accordance with the beliefs and Statement of Faith, direction of the church Constitution, Governing Board of Elders (Elders), and biblical principles.
- Recruit, train, and equip youth leaders for middle and high school ministries. Learn or delegate the technical and worship needs for the youth ministry (sound, video, lights, worship leading, etc.). Provide support as needed to develop the leadership team.
- Provide for the discipleship of students and staff at EBC.
- Lead and facilitate weekly programs for youth ministries.
- Facilitate fellowship opportunities, worship, Bible‑based teaching, discipleship, evangelism outreach, and mission trips for youth.
- Encourage youth leadership opportunities.
- Plan, coordinate, and lead retreats, special events, and Bible studies for youth. Evaluate outcomes and provide debriefing opportunities and feedback as needed.
- Build and maintain positive, supportive relationships with the youth. Show support to them.
- Provide counseling support for youth as needed.
- Communicate regularly with staff and parents of youth. Develop positive relationships with these and other groups.
- Evaluate and provide recommendations for resources, teaching materials, and other curriculum as needed.
- Report regularly to direct supervisors and the Elders.
- Accept feedback and respond with appropriate actions.
- Perform other duties as determined by the Elders.
- Attend EBC and participate in other ministries, events, and church meetings as needed.
- Collaboratively lead, organize, and oversee other events as able and necessary with the lead pastor’s or supervisor’s direction.
- Join the local network of youth pastors of Dallas to coordinate combined retreats, events, and activities.
- Be prepared to occasionally preach, as requested by the lead pastor.
- The youth pastor is supervised by the lead pastor and Elders.
- The youth pastor reports to the lead pastor, Elders, and others as needed.
- The youth pastor oversees youth ministry leaders, workers, and other volunteers as needed.
