Position Summary

Recruiting to fill one position, either a part‑time School Based Mental Health Therapist or a full‑time School Based Mental Health Associate.

This is a 10‑month permanent position. Salary is paid averaged over 12 months for 10 months worked. The working days follow an Academic Calendar (mid‑August to mid‑June).

Program Overview

The School Based Mental Health (SBMH) Program is a partnership between Polk County and five local school districts. The SBMH staff are placed in Elementary, Middle, and High School settings throughout rural Polk County, providing services to all students. The program does not bill for services.

Responsibilities

Provide short‑term, evidence‑based services, including individual and group skill‑building, social‑emotional learning facilitation, and crisis response (suicide assessments). Consult with families and school staff to connect students and families to community resources. Develop additional skills such as classroom presentations on character education, support for school‑wide PBIS efforts, facilitation of parent education, suicide prevention, and social skill development.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a 30‑minute lunch break.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral science, educational field, or three (3) years of experience in social services, education, or a related field, or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Qualifications
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license and automobile insurance.
  • Access to and use of a personal automobile as a condition of employment.
