Senior Executive Recruiter at LHH/Parker and LynchLHH is seeking a Tax Accountant to join the tax team of a well‑established, privately held organization operating in the real estate and property investment space. This opportunity is ideal for a tax professional with strong partnership tax experience who enjoys working on technically complex matters without the grind of traditional busy seasons. The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation in real estate partnership taxation, strong technical skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, growing environment.
- Prepare federal and multi‑state income tax returns, primarily for partnerships and corporations
- Review tax returns and support federal and state tax examinations of varying complexity
- Assist with managing and responding to federal and state tax notices
- Coordinate with outsourced teams on compliance engagements, including workflow oversight, quality control, and clear instruction to ensure timely and accurate deliverables
- Prepare tax projections and calculate estimated tax payments
- Prepare and review complex work papers, including K‑2/K‑3 reporting, state apportionment, book‑to‑tax differences, and debt allocations
- Maintain and oversee fixed asset schedules and depreciation calculations
- Prepare, review, and analyze Earnings & Profits (E&P)
- Communicate professionally with the IRS and state taxing authorities, as needed
- Conduct tax research and draft memoranda related to real estate and construction tax matters
- Demonstrate a hands‑on, proactive approach with a strong willingness to learn new concepts
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- CPA or CPA‑eligible required
- 4+ years of progressive tax compliance experience in public accounting or a mix of public accounting and industry experience
- Strong partnership tax knowledge, including: 1031 exchanges, Sections 704(b) and 704(c) allocations (forward and reverse), Section 754 elections and related adjustments, Section 743(b) computations, Debt‑financed distributions and targeted capital account allocations
- Working knowledge of: IRC Sections 1445 (FIRPTA) and 1446, including Forms 1042, 8804, and 8805, IRC Sections 6038 and 6038B, including Forms 8858 and 8938
- Experience with tax preparation software and research tools (e.g., CCH Axcess, Fixed Asset CS, Bloomberg, RIA Checkpoint, or similar)
- Strong proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
