A rapidly growing, privately held real estate investment manager focused on value-add strategies within a specialized property sector. Founded in the mid-2010s, the firm manages multiple private investment vehicles and REIT structures and has built one of the largest portfolios in its niche across the United States. The organization operates with a hands-on ownership mindset while partnering with third-party operators at the asset level.

Role Overview

The firm is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Controller’s group in Dallas, TX
. This is a newly created role driven by continued portfolio and fund growth. The Senior Accountant will report to the Controller and manage one Staff Accountant, playing a key role in scaling accounting operations as the platform continues to expand.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close and reporting for the management company and affiliated REIT entities
  • Record acquisitions and dispositions of real estate investments
  • Prepare quarterly financial statements for the Board and select lenders
  • Support annual audits and coordinate with external auditors
  • Oversee cash management, including daily liquidity review and cash forecasting
  • Assist with REIT compliance, tax structuring considerations, and loan covenant compliance
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, policies, and procedures
  • Implement best practices across accounting processes
  • Support budgeting and projections as needed
  • Coordinate with property accountants and review monthly property-level financials
  • Partner cross-functionally with Investment, Asset Management, and Finance teams
  • Contribute to the continued build-out and success of the accounting function
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA required
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including consolidation and asset acquisition accounting (ASC 805 / ASU 2017-01)
  • Ability to perform and document technical accounting research
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail with strong project and time management abilities
  • Experience with ERP and reporting tools (e.g., SAP, Power BI) a plus
