The Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting plays a critical role in the preparation, coordination, and execution of the Company’s external and internal financial reporting. This role supports SEC filings, equity and debt accounting, technical accounting matters, audits, and internal controls, while partnering cross-functionally with Legal, Payroll, Internal Audit, and external auditors. The position requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a public company environment.
Responsibilities- Financial Reporting & SEC Filings:
Serve as an integral contributor to the preparation and coordination of consolidated financial statements, SEC filings (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K), earnings releases, press releases, and other internal and external ad hoc reporting. - Prepare and tie out all public filings to support schedules and underlying financial records.
- Prepare earnings-related schedules supporting reporting, debt, and equity disclosures. Respond to financial reporting inquiries from Internal Audit and external auditors.
- Audit & External Coordination:
Assist in managing the external quarterly review and annual audit process, including preparation of supporting schedules and responding to audit requests. - Coordinate audit documentation and uploads to KPMG and other audit firm portals.
- Prepare statutory financial statements and support audits for multiple domestic and international entities.
- Technical Accounting & Internal Controls:
Prepare technical accounting white papers to support conclusions on significant or complex accounting transactions. - Assist with the coordination, documentation, and implementation of internal controls over financial reporting (SOX).
- Support XBRL tagging and review processes for SEC filings.
- Equity Accounting & Administration:
Calculate and record stockholders’ equity expenses, including ESPP-related expenses; prepare quarterly Statements of Stockholders’ Equity; calculate weighted average shares outstanding for EPS; prepare quarterly entries related to retained earnings, share-based compensation, dividends, and APIC transactions. - Debt Accounting & Reporting:
Prepare weekly and quarterly debt reporting, including calculation of weekly wire amounts and quarterly interest; maintain debt roll forwards and restricted cash account reconciliations; calculate debt-reported Adjusted EBITDA on a quarterly basis; prepare quarterly financial statements for Wingstop Franchising and Wingstop Funding; support the annual FTI audit process related to debt reporting.
- Perform quarterly cash flow statement preparation and equity-related accounting.
- Support special projects and ad hoc analyses assigned.
- Prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- A strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- You have or are actively pursuing your CPA.
- You have 2 to 4 years of relevant experience including 2+ years of experience with a large public accounting firm.
- You have a high degree of emotional intelligence, an exceptional ability to convey ideas and gain alignment among others, and the aptitude to apply sound, strategic thinking to address a variety of business circumstances.
