AP​/AR Accountant

Partnering with a Dallas-based utility infrastructure firm, our client is looking for an AP AR Accountant. The position focuses heavily on accounts payable, cost tracking, and day‑to‑day financial support for active projects. Reporting directly to senior accounting leadership, the role partners closely with internal operations and contract management teams to ensure accurate financial processing and visibility.

• Assist and report directly to senior accounting leadership
• Handle accounts payable activities, with heavier AP exposure than AR
• Review and process vendor invoices and construction‑related payables
• Support accounting functions tied to water, wastewater, or utility operations
• Partner closely with operations leadership on financial and cost‑related items
• Work regularly with the contract management function
• Maintain accurate financial records and support month‑end activities
• Navigate and utilize accounting systems (training provided on internal systems)
• Manage workload independently without direct reports

• 3-8 years of experience
• Prior experience in utility accounting (water, wastewater, or similar utility environment strongly preferred)
• Candidates with broader construction or infrastructure accounting exposure will also be considered
• Experience working in an AP‑heavy environment
• Comfortable operating with limited oversight and setting personal priorities
• Not seeking someone ready for a Controller role today, but someone open to making a strategic career move
• Experience with Spectrum accounting software is a strong plus
• Based in Addison, TX
• Primarily in‑office, with 1 day per week work‑from‑home
• Leadership team is in the office one week per month
• Collaborative environment with accounting, operations, and contract management
