Assistant Controller

We’re engaged with a client to hire a Director-level accounting leader with a strong foundation in inventory accounting and operational finance. This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys owning the close, strengthening accounting processes, and developing high-performing teams in a fast-moving environment. You’ll partner closely with finance leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate reporting, improve scalability, and support continued growth.

• Ownership of inventory accounting and core accounting operations

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely, accurate reporting
• Ensure strict adherence to GAAP and key accounting standards, including ASC 842, 606, and 805
• Oversee general ledger activities including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis
• Own inventory accounting, including accuracy of valuation and financial reporting
• Maintain compliance with accounting policies, standards, and internal controls
• Manage, coach, and develop an accounting team; drive accountability and continuous improvement
• Support financial statement preparation and management reporting
• Analyze results, identify trends, and communicate insights to leadership
• Coordinate audit support and ensure documentation is audit-ready
• Drive process improvements across accounting workflows and reporting
• Support growth initiatives including integrations and operational expansion
• Partner with finance teams on budgeting, forecasting, and variance commentary

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience (general ledger + reporting focus)
• Recent PE-Backed experience for Middle-Market company
• Experience with major ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, JDE, etc) and Black Line
• Direct experience supporting inventory accounting in a complex environment
• Experience leading close cycles and supporting audit readiness
• Proven team leadership and development experience
• Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical and reconciliation ability

• Certfied Public Accountant
• Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, or high-growth environments
