AsCAPcontinues to grow, wearebuilding a finance function that scales ahead of acquisitions not behind them. This role is designed for someone who can and will step in, take ownership of day-to-day accounting for active developments as well as projects that are fullyoperationaland provide immediate leverage to leadership.
This role initially will beabout 35hours per week, allowing for time to get fully immersed in our projects and processes and be positioned to grow professionally as new properties come online.
The Accounting Associate reports to the Controller and will assist with reviewing monthly pay applications and preparing funding requests for projects in Development. You will also be responsible for ensuring accuracy and timeliness with vendors and assist with cash management. You will assist with transitioning projects from Development to Operations.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities- Review and enter accounts payable daily.
- Complete bank reconciliations timely.
- Facilitate timely payments vendors and contractors.
- Record invoices and journal entries related to proper job costing and project allocation.
- Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist in explaining variances to budget
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Two years of accounting experience with knowledge of real estate
- Must be proactive, self-directed, and highly motivated
- Must be an energetic, forward-thinking, strategic and growth-minded individual with high ethical standards
- Must be trustworthy and able to effectively communicate information verbally and in writing
- Takes initiative, takes ownership for actions, and sets examples for others
- Ability to set and meet goals, and consistently meet deadlines
- Ability to thrive and be flexible in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment
- Ability to provide input and suggestions on process improvements and new processes
- Detail oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
- Ability to read, comprehend, and analyze financial statements, such as profit and loss statements, general ledgers, and budgets
- Proficiency in use of computers and software, including use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, and experience utilizing an accounting software system
- Understanding of and sensitivity to confidential information
- Real Estate or Multi-Family Construction industry experience desired but not required.
- Quick Books Online and App Folio knowledge and experience a plus
