Property Accounting Manager (Salary Range: $120,000 – $130,000)

Hybrid- 4 days in office and WFH on Friday

LHH is seeking a Accounting Manager for a Residential Real Estate company located in Dallas. This will be on the ownership side. This role will oversee the accounting function, lead a small team, and ensure timely and accurate GAAP financial reporting across a growing portfolio of properties. In addition to holding a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or economics, the ideal candidate will bring at least 5-7 years of progressive accounting leadership experience, strong property management expertise, and a proven track record in managing teams and implementing process efficiencies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger activities, accounts payable, reconciliations, payroll, and cash management.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members while ensuring appropriate training and professional growth opportunities.
• Manage the preparation of financial statements and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
• Partner with external auditors to lead the annual property audit process and provide necessary documentation.
• Support the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses, providing insights to leadership.
• Drive improvements to the month-end close process, implementing efficiencies as the property portfolio expands.
• Collaborate with property management teams to deliver timely, accurate, and customer-focused reporting.
• Monitor intercompany transactions, ensuring proper allocation and elimination of balances.
• Contribute to cross-functional committees, special projects, and ad hoc financial analysis as needed.
• Ensure robust accounting policies and procedures are in place to minimize risk and strengthen internal controls.

Client Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or economics required; CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant accounting leadership experience, ideally within property management.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, consolidation, internal controls, and external reporting.
• Proven ability to evaluate and enhance financial systems and processes for scalability.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with external partners.
