COMPANY DESCRIPTION

California Bioenergy LLC (Cal Bio) is one of the country's leading developers of dairy digester projects. Our projects generate renewable natural gas and electricity which is used as a vehicle fuel to power clean trucks, buses, and cars. Founded in 2006, Cal Bio works closely with local dairy farmers, the California Air Resources Board (CARB), the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA), the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC), the California Energy Commission (CEC), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the dairy industry to develop projects that reduce greenhouse gases (GHGs), protect local air and water quality, create local jobs, and provide a new revenue stream along with other meaningful benefits to its dairy partners.

Along with its affiliates, Midwest Bioenergy, Northwest Bioenergy, and Southwest Bioenergy, Cal Bio is undertaking the development, construction, ownership, and operation of dozens of dairy digester projects across the country.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant supports the organization's financial operations by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, assisting with month-end close, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. This role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain the General Ledger as well as all subsidiary ledgers.
  • Prepare financial statements under US GAAP.
  • Perform Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Manage Fixed Assets records and depreciation schedules.
  • Analyze monthly Budget to Actual variances.
  • Review monthly Budget to Actual variances with Operation Managers and the Director of the unit to provide comprehensive information to VP of Accounting and Taxation and identify corrective actions.
  • Compile statistical, financial, accounting, and auditing reports related to cash receipts, expenses, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and gains and losses.
  • Participate in system implementations to ensure accounting and finance objectives are met.
  • Contribute to the annual budget preparation.
  • Maintain accounting work papers.
  • Diagnose accounting problems and identify solutions.
  • Work directly with the Operations team to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Prepare the required documentation for external audits, including those by banks, financial institutions, and fiscal authorities.
  • Lead and perform internal audit activities to guarantee compliance with internal controls and accuracy in accounting records.
  • Apply independent judgment and personal initiative to solve problems and recommend solutions to the accounting areas.
  • Ensure compliance with deadlines for tax returns and implement new government regulations for accounting and tax purposes.
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Preferred 1-2 years of accounting experience.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize large volumes of data and information.
  • Self-directed and able to work independently and under pressure, meeting tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, customer service oriented.
  • Detail-oriented, precise, and complete in work.
  • Flexibility and a team player.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of visual attention and mental concentration during significant periods of time.
  • Reliability.
  • Knowledge of Accounting, Tax, and Insurance principles and practices.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • This is a fully on-site position requiring regular attendance at the assigned work location (Dallas, TX)
  • Standard office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use
  • Regular use of accounting software, spreadsheets, and office equipment
  • Occasional extended hours may be required during month-end, quarter-end, or year-end close periods
  • Limited travel may be required for meetings or training, with advance notice
