This position offers meaningful exposure to core accounting processes and provides the opportunity to develop both technical expertise and business acumen within a multi-entity, mission-driven organization. This role is well-suited for a high-performing professional who is detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and eager to take ownership of key accounting responsibilities while contributing to continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities- The Staff Accountant is responsible for executing and supporting critical accounting functions with a high degree of accuracy and accountability. This includes maintaining and reconciling all bank accounts on a weekly basis, working closely with the billing team to ensure that cash is accurately applied within the A/R subledger and that discrepancies are resolved promptly.
- The role supports the monthly close process by adhering to the close calendar, completing assigned tasks on time, and contributing to a disciplined and efficient close. As part of this process, the Staff Accountant prepares monthly variance analyses by entity, identifying key drivers and ensuring clarity for management review prior to finalizing results.
- The position is also responsible for preparing and maintaining monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation. This includes updating reconciliation trackers to support timely management review and approval.
- In addition, the Staff Accountant assists with the annual financial audit by preparing schedules and responding to audit requests in a timely and organized manner.
- The role requires adherence to established accounting policies and internal controls, while also encouraging a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date process documentation is an important component of the position.
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required, with a solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles. Progress toward a CPA or interest in pursuing certification is viewed favorably.
- Candidates should have approximately 2–4 years of experience in a general ledger or corporate accounting environment, with exposure to monthly close and account reconciliations.
- Experience with Sage Intacct or similar accounting systems is preferred, along with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
- Exposure to non-profit or multi-entity environments is a plus.
- The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail while maintaining an understanding of broader financial objectives. A high level of integrity and the ability to handle confidential information are essential.
- Success in this role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are important, along with a service-oriented mindset and a commitment to supporting internal stakeholders across departments.
- We are seeking an individual who is adaptable, proactive, and motivated to continuously improve processes and contribute positively to the finance function.
