Based in Dallas and reporting to the CFO, we are looking for a high-energy, detail-obsessed Senior Accountant to take full ownership of our accounting ecosystem. This is a foundational role in a fast-paced sports tech startup where you will be the "source of truth" for our financial data.
While the CFO focuses on high-level strategy and fundraising, you will own the engine. We need a Quick Books master who can manage the day-to-day books, lead a flawless month-end close, and ensure we are always "audit-ready." This role requires a rare mix of technical accounting mastery and the interpersonal skills to work effectively with every department in the building. You should be the type of person who finds peace in a perfectly reconciled account and takes pride in a "clean" audit.
If you are a disciplined accountant with a big personality who wants to be a key player in a growing tech company, we want to talk to you.
- Full-Cycle Accounting: Own and execute all aspects of the general ledger, including AP/AR, payroll, accruals, journal entries, fixed assets, and revenue recognition.
- Month-End Engine: Drive the entire month-end and year-end close process. You are responsible for ensuring all reconciliations and financial statements are completed accurately and on time.
- Quick Books Administration: Serve as the expert and administrator for Quick Books, ensuring the chart of accounts is optimized and data integrity is absolute.
- Audit & Tax Lead: Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors and tax professionals. You will prepare all necessary work papers, schedules, and documentation to ensure seamless filings and compliance.
- Compliance: Ensure all local, state, and federal tax requirements are met (Sales tax, Franchise tax, etc.) and that the company remains in strict accordance with GAAP.
- Internal
Collaboration:
Work closely with department heads to manage expense reports, clarify vendor billing, and provide clear financial updates to the leadership team.
- 4+ years of professional accounting experience - either in-house or in a CPA firm where you served small to medium businesses. You must have a deep understanding of GAAP and experience managing a full-cycle close.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required, CPA strongly preferred.
- Quick Books: Expert-level proficiency. You should know the ins and outs of the platform and get the most of out of the system, given our business model and stage.
- Excel: Highly comfortable and efficient. While you won't spend all day building complex "what-if" scenarios, you must be able to manipulate large datasets, use advanced formulas, and create clean, professional reports.
- Exceptional communication skills. You need to be able to hold teammates accountable for budgets while maintaining a positive, collaborative startup culture.
- Experience in a high-growth or early-stage environment with evolving processes.
- Experience in a SAAS company would be an asset.
