As a key player in the government contracting space, the organization focuses on operational excellence, strict regulatory compliance, and delivering high-value engineering and analytical services to various U.S. government agencies.
Role OverviewThe Accounting Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations and supporting financial reporting, compliance, and government contract accounting requirements. This is a hands‑on leadership role within a regulated government contracting environment, requiring expertise in FAR/CAS compliance and job cost accounting.
Key Responsibilities- Accounting Operations: Lead monthly/year-end close processes, manage GL, AP/AR, payroll, and billing, and maintain balance sheet integrity.
- Government Contracting: Manage job cost accounting across various contract types (T&M, FPIF, FFP). Ensure compliance with FAR Part 31 and CAS
. - Compliance & Audit: Support DCAA/DCMA audit requests, prepare incurred cost submissions, and coordinate tax reporting packages.
- Systems & Process: Support ERP system administration (e.g., Deltek Costpoint/Unanet), improve accounting workflows, and ensure internal control integrity.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience: 5 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, specifically within the government contracting/defense industry
. - Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of general ledger, job cost accounting, indirect rate structures, and FAR cost allowability principles.
- System Proficiency: Strong Excel skills and experience with Gov Con ERP systems (Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, or similar).
- Revenue Background: Experience working in a government contractor environment with $30M+ in annual revenue.
- CPA or CMA certification.
- Experience with incurred cost submissions, DCAA audits, and EAC forecasting (ASC 606).
