Gas Plant Accountant III
The ideal candidate is an experienced accounting professional with a strong background in Natural Gas Gathering & Processing, Midstream Operational Accounting, Revenue Accounting, or Plant Settlement Accounting. This individual should possess strong knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition, plant settlements, commercial contract interpretation, and operational accounting while working closely with Commercial, Operations, Marketing, and Measurement teams.
Must possess:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Experience in Gas Plant Accounting, Midstream Accounting, or Revenue Accounting
- Experience with Natural Gas Gathering & Processing operations
- Experience performing Plant Settlement Analysis
- Experience with Revenue Recognition and Production Allocation
- Experience with Volume & Value Reconciliation
- Experience interpreting commercial contracts (POP, Fee-Based, Fixed Price, Imbalance, Intercompany)
- Experience supporting Month-End Close, Journal Entries, Accruals, and Account Reconciliations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with TIPS, Waterfield, or similar Midstream Accounting systems (preferred)
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
The Gas Plant Accountant III is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of operational and revenue accounting activities related to natural gas gathering and processing operations. This role supports plant settlements, production allocation, revenue recognition, contract interpretation, financial reporting, and month-end close while partnering closely with Commercial, Operations, Measurement, and Marketing teams to ensure accurate operational and financial reporting. The successful candidate will also support process improvements, system enhancements, internal controls, and audit activities while ensuring compliance with GAAP and SOX requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage gas plant settlement accounting
- Perform production allocation and revenue accounting
- Analyze volume and value reconciliations
- Interpret gas purchase and processing contracts
- Perform month-end close activities
- Prepare journal entries and accruals
- Complete account reconciliations
- Analyze revenue, margin, and production variances
- Investigate reconciliation and system discrepancies
- Partner with Commercial, Operations, Measurement, and Marketing teams
- Support implementation of TIPS, Waterfield, and other accounting systems
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and SOX controls
- Support internal, external, and customer audits
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives
