We are seeking an experienced Senior Property Accountant to support the accounting and financial reporting functions of a growing oil and gas organization. This role is responsible for executing and reviewing key monthly and quarterly accounting activities, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, supporting revenue accounting processes, and maintaining compliance with regulatory reporting requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and possesses a strong understanding of GAAP and oil and gas accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly journal entries to support the financial close process.
- Perform and maintain general ledger account reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Review invoices and oversee accounts payable coding to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with accounting policies.
- Review monthly revenue activity and coordinate owner distribution payments in accordance with established procedures and deadlines.
- Manage state unclaimed property (escheat) reporting and oversee annual Form 1099 reporting requirements.
- Assist with external audits by preparing supporting documentation, responding to auditor requests, and helping ensure audit readiness.
- Support the Controller with financial reporting, process improvements, and other accounting initiatives as needed.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required.
- 3-4 years of progressive accounting experience required.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience within the oil and gas industry required.
- CPA or APA designation strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and revenue accounting principles.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software/ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
