The following details outline the role of Internal Auditor at Austin Industries, a leading U.S. construction company.
Role OverviewInternal Auditor reporting to the Internal Audit Manager. Assist on audits of construction contracts, financial controls and operational controls across all operating companies. Work onsite at Dallas office.
Essential Functions- Assist on complex audits of major construction and maintenance projects to assess management processes and compliance with policies.
- Lead audit teams, manage multiple assignments and changing priorities.
- Assist with risk‑based contract management and compliance audits.
- Prepare draft audit findings and recommendations; collaborate on management action plans.
- Monitor status of management actions addressing control gaps.
- Travel approximately 20% of time.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- 0–3 years operational, risk‑based Internal Audit experience in a capital intensive industry, focus on major construction projects.
- Project Controls and/or Construction Project Management experience considered.
- Strong interpersonal, influencing skills, judgment and integrity.
- Excellent written and oral communication; ability to present to senior executives.
- Strong IT skills – data mining and analysis with ACL, IDEA, MS Excel, etc.
- Ability to interface with project management teams and contractors.
- High performer, strong leadership, analytical skills.
- Understanding of business processes and risk implications.
- Results oriented, fast‑paced environment, multiple project management.
- High energy, tolerance for ambiguity.
- Uncompromising integrity and commitment to corporate values and Code of Business Conduct.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, engineering, or related field.
- Obtaining or actively pursuing CPA, CIA, or CCIFP.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Acceptable travel (approx. 20%).
- Legally authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship.
