The Role
This is a full‑time role based in Dallas, Texas. Sixth Street has an immediate opening for a bright, hard‑working individual to join our Portfolio Accounting – Insurance team in Dallas. This team is focused on supporting accounting and reporting activities across our Insurance SMAs investing in private and liquid investments across various sectors (Asset Based Finance, Structured Credit, Infrastructure, Energy etc).
The role will be an integral part of a developing team in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial work environment. This individual will be involved in several facets of the operations, including cash and investment position reconciliation, accounting activities, reporting and investment performance/analysis deliverables etc.
- Manage all accounting responsibilities and work with the Operations and Offshore accounting teams to support, record and reconcile investing and related cash activities
- Review investment related documents and monitor new investment setup in the accounting platform
- Liaison with investment professionals on structuring, cash movements and investment performance
- Assist with preparing complex waterfall and management fee calculations in accordance with Investment Management Agreements (IMAs)
- Assist with expense reporting and analysis
- Assist with quarterly valuation process
- Assist with the production of daily, monthly and quarterly reporting that is distributed to all Investors, Investment Professionals and Management
- Assist fundraising team in preparing marketing documents
- Participate in a wide variety of special projects, both operating and financial, and compile a variety of special reports
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong understanding and application of accounting rules and industry accounting practices
- Detail‑oriented, responsible and proactive
- Deadline‑oriented to meet time‑sensitive regulatory and contractual requirements
- Adept at problem solving
- Candidate must be self‑motivated and willing to work in a team environment
- Candidate must have attention to detail and be focused on multiple demands and deliverables
- 3‑5 years accounting experience in a combination of public accounting (either audit or tax), alternative asset or investment management firm, or fund admin
- Experience with alternative investments, credit and structured products investments, private equity and partnership accounting, fund administration, and Advent Geneva are preferred
- Experience with investment performance reporting and analytics are a plus
- Strong accounting and excel skills; professional certification (CPA or equivalent)
