Corporate Controller | McKinney, TX | Salary Range: $150K-$170K Base + Bonus
Sage Search Partners is seeking a Corporate Controller for a manufacturing company in McKinney, Texas. This newly created role owns the accounting function and financial reporting for a rapidly growing organization pursuing strategic acquisitions.
The ideal candidate will bring 5 to 7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience with substantial depth in manufacturing cost accounting, strong U.S. GAAP knowledge, and hands-on expertise in inventory accounting, project costing, and multi-entity consolidation.
The right fit will be a self-directed problem solver comfortable working 100% onsite in McKinney with occasional travel, who can hit the ground running with limited training bandwidth and thrive in a fast-paced, build-mode environment.
Responsibilities- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and deliver consolidated GAAP financial statements to the CFO and board stakeholders.
- Drive project and job costing across all active manufacturing programs, tracing transactions at the project and detail level to ensure cost accuracy.
- Manage full-cycle inventory accounting, including valuation methods, physical and cycle counts, and reserves for slow-moving and obsolete inventory.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances, and maintain the general ledger with proper documentation and controls.
- Support multi-entity consolidation and intercompany eliminations as the organization pursues acquisitions.
- Mentor and develop the small accounting team, which currently includes accounting and payables staff.
- Work closely with operations and purchasing on cost standards, bill of materials maintenance, and variance analysis.
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packages that inform business decisions and sponsor updates.
- Leverage new ERP systems and financial tools to optimize reporting, tighten reconciliations, and build scalable processes.
- Coordinate with external auditors and manage tax coordination with outside advisors.
- 5 to 7 years of progressive accounting and finance with real manufacturing cost accounting experience.
- Strong U.S. GAAP and financial reporting knowledge.
- Hands-on experience with inventory accounting, valuation methods, reconciliations, and physical counts.
- Project and job costing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems independently with minimal guidance.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and financial modeling.
- Comfortable working 100% onsite with travel as needed.
- Experience with multi-entity consolidation and intercompany eliminations.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
- CPA preferred.
