McLemmon Group is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join our Dallas team. This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting activities for a portfolio of commercial and mixed-use properties.
The ideal candidate will bring strong property accounting experience, a solid understanding of full-cycle accounting, and the ability to work independently while partnering closely with operations, property management, and leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities- Manage full-cycle property accounting for a portfolio of commercial and mixed-use properties
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
- Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts
- Monitor daily cash activity and ensure accurate recording of transactions
- Post and reconcile tenant receipts and rent payments
- Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Support CAM reconciliations and tenant bill-back processes
- Collaborate with property management, construction, and operations teams
- Assist with year-end audit requests and financial reporting needs
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
- 3-5 years of property accounting experience
- Full-cycle accounting experience, including month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Experience using Yardi
- Experience with mixed-use, retail, office, or multifamily portfolios
- Strong understanding of accrual accounting, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Experience with Avid Xchange, Kardin, or similar accounting and budgeting platforms
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Within the first 90 days, you'll be confidently managing daily cash activity, maintaining accurate books and records, performing reconciliations, and contributing independently to the month-end close process. Over time, you'll become a trusted accounting partner supporting a diverse commercial real estate portfolio.
