On behalf of a premier, privately held real estate development and investment firm based in Dallas, Randstad is seeking an experienced Corporate & Real Estate Controller to lead their corporate accounting function. The firm acquires, entitles, develops, and manages a high-profile portfolio of residential, commercial, mixed-use, and luxury hospitality/resort assets.
Position SummaryReporting directly to the Senior Controller, this role oversees company-wide financial reporting, multi-entity consolidations, treasury/cash flow forecasting, and daily accounting operations.
This is an ownership-level corporate role that works directly alongside development, construction, asset management, and third-party hotel operating partners. You will also directly manage an AP/Accounting Manager and Senior Accountants.
Key Responsibilities- Corporate & Entity Reporting: Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closes for corporate entities, JVs, and single-purpose project entities in accordance with GAAP. Oversee multi-entity consolidations and intercompany eliminations.
- Development & Job Costing: Oversee job-cost accounting, budget-to-actual variance tracking, and CIP-to-asset transfers for active construction and development projects.
- Hospitality Oversight: Review hotel/resort operating financials using USALI standards and coordinate with 3rd-party property management accounting teams on budgets and forecasts.
- Treasury & Payroll: Manage cash flow forecasting across corporate and project entities. Oversee multi-state corporate payroll, including capitalized labor allocations for development projects.
- Team Leadership & Controls: Manage and develop direct reports (Senior Accountant, Accounting/AP Manager). Maintain internal controls, update SOPs, and serve as the main lead for annual audits and tax preparers.
- Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required;
CPA strongly preferred
. Public accounting (Big 4 or regional) audit background is a major plus. - Experience: 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role within real estate development or owner-operator environments
. - Technical
Skills:
Strong proficiency in multi-entity/JV consolidations, job cost accounting, CIP tracking, and treasury forecasting. - Hospitality Knowledge: Familiarity with USALI hotel accounting standards and 3rd-party hotel management financial reports.
- Systems: Proficiency in real estate ERPs (e.g., Yardi, MRI, Sage Intacct) and advanced Excel.
