Job Description & How to Apply Below

Candidates but be local to Texas or Oklahoma and open to travel to Austin several times a quarter.

Percentage of completion experience is required.

Our client is a growing, private equity-backed construction and roofing company generating approximately $35-40 million in annual revenue and $5-5.5 million of EBITDA. The company is seeking a hands‑on Controller to take ownership of the accounting function and serve as the company's primary financial accounting leader.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Controller who enjoys working in a lean, entrepreneurial environment and wants broad ownership across accounting, financial reporting, cash management, job costing, and financial controls. The successful candidate will have meaningful exposure to the business and work closely with the ownership group, executive leadership, operations, and the company's outside CPA firm.

The accounting team is currently lean, with one AP professional, outsourced AR, and an external CPA firm that provides financial statement review/sign-off. The Controller will bring greater structure, visibility, and discipline to the accounting function while partnering with the existing resources and determining where additional infrastructure may be needed as the company grows.

Compensation $170K + Bonus

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the day-to-day accounting function and oversee all aspects of the company's accounting operations.
  • Manage and improve the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Oversee the general ledger, AP, AR, cash management, reconciliations, accruals, fixed assets, and other core accounting functions.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reporting.

  • Ensure financial reporting is accurate, timely, and compliant with GAAP.
  • Own the company's construction accounting processes, including percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.

  • Partner closely with operations and project management to ensure job costs and estimated costs-to-complete are accurate and current.
  • Analyze project performance and identify margin issues, cost overruns, and potential risks.
  • Develop and maintain accurate WIP schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure proper accounting for contract revenue, costs, and profitability throughout the life of each project.
  • Manage daily cash visibility and short‑term cash forecasting.
  • Monitor AR, AP, collections, payables, and working capital requirements.
  • Partner with leadership to ensure appropriate cash availability for payroll, vendors, projects, and other operating requirements.
  • Improve cash conversion and working‑capital processes as the company grows.
  • Evaluate the company's current accounting processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and controls.
  • Build scalable accounting processes and reporting infrastructure appropriate for a growing, PE‑backed company.

  • Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, contract accounting, and project profitability.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial statement preparation.
