Tax Staff

The Tone:

This is a full-time role at Bennett Thrasher. As a Tax Staff, you will play a crucial role in delivering value to clients by assisting with all stages of the tax compliance preparation process.   To add value to clients by assisting with all stages of tax compliance preparation, ensuring accuracy and adherence to standards.

• Prepare Tax Returns and Projections:
  Accurately and efficiently prepare partnership, S Corporation, and individual tax returns, utilizing feedback received to prevent future errors. Additionally, prepare comprehensive income tax projections and estimate calculations for clients.
• Analyze Financial Information:
  Systematically analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess their accuracy, completeness, and conformance to established reporting and procedural standards.
• Conduct Research:
  Perform thorough research, analysis, development, and summarization of financial information to support various client engagements and internal needs.
• Communicate Professionally:
  Engage in professional communication with clients under the supervision of Managers and Seniors, and communicate with the IRS and other state authorities when applicable.
• Maintain Files and Support Development:
  Maintain and organize client files strictly in accordance with firm standards while also supporting Interns in their professional development, contributing to a collaborative team environment.

• Background:
  An undergraduate degree is required, ideally in accounting or a related field, for this early career role. Candidates must possess an advanced understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial statements.
• Experience:
  
  A demonstrated appropriate understanding of financial reporting is necessary, including Firm, FASB, GASB, and AICPA accounting and auditing standards. Candidates should be actively studying and preparing for the CPA certification if it has not already been obtained, or have a specific plan in place to satisfy the 150-hour requirement.
• Skills:
  
  Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for client and internal interactions. A strong commitment to professional and client service excellence, coupled with proven time management, organizational, and prioritization abilities, is also required.
• Bonus: A Master's degree is preferred for this position, enhancing a candidate’s qualifications and knowledge base.
