Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company is seeking a hands‑on Senior Government Cost Accountant to support the cost accounting and compliance activities underlying federal contracts. This role will calculate and analyze indirect rates, maintain compliant cost allocations, support incurred cost submissions and proposal pricing, and prepare documentation for DCAA and internal audits. The position may be filled at the Cost Accountant or Senior Cost Accountant level based on relevant experience, with senior hires leading more complex analysis and mentoring colleagues.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform government cost accounting activities in accordance with FAR Part 31 cost principles and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
  • Calculate, monitor, and analyze fringe, overhead, and G&A indirect rates, including monthly and quarterly rate variance analysis.
  • Segregate direct and indirect costs and identify allowable and unallowable costs while maintaining complete supporting documentation.
  • Support preparation of annual incurred cost submissions and provisional billing rate calculations.
  • Set up and maintain project and job-cost structures in the ERP system and reconcile project costs to the general ledger.
  • Prepare cost-impact analyses and support pricing activities for proposals and contract modifications.
  • Compile documentation and respond to data requests for DCAA and internal audits.
  • Monitor timekeeping and labor distribution practices for government‑contract compliance.
  • At the senior level, lead complex cost analyses and provide guidance and mentoring to team members.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of government cost accounting experience for the Senior Cost Accountant level, or at least 3 years for the Cost Accountant level.
  • Working knowledge of FAR and CAS as they apply to cost allocation, allowability, and indirect-rate development.
  • Strong understanding of indirect-rate mechanics, cost pools, and allocation methodologies.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate, audit‑ready documentation and analyze detailed financial data.
