The OpportunityA well-established boutique CPA firm in Dallas is seeking a CPA Tax Manager to join its growing team. The firm serves high-net-worth individuals and founder-led businesses throughout Texas and is known for its high technical standards, personalized client service, and sustainable approach to public accounting.
This opportunity is well suited to someone who began their career with a larger public accounting firm and later moved into a boutique environment. The successful candidate will combine strong technical tax knowledge with the ability to build trusted client relationships, review complex work, and mentor developing professionals.
Responsibilities- Manage tax compliance and planning engagements for high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, and founder-led businesses.
- Review complex federal and state individual and business tax returns.
- Identify tax-planning opportunities and provide practical guidance to clients.
- Serve as a trusted point of contact for clients and develop a thorough understanding of their businesses and financial goals.
- Review work papers and returns prepared by staff, providing constructive feedback and technical guidance.
- Supervise, train, and mentor junior tax professionals.
- Manage engagement workflow, deadlines, and deliverables while maintaining the firm’s quality standards.
- Research complex tax matters and communicate findings clearly to clients and colleagues.
- Collaborate directly with firm leadership on client matters, team development, and process improvements.
- Support the firm’s transition to Karbon beginning in November.
- Active CPA license required.
- Approximately 6-10 years of public accounting tax experience.
- Big Four or other large-firm training strongly preferred.
- Subsequent experience with a boutique or locally focused CPA firm preferred.
- Experience serving high-net-worth individuals and closely held or founder-led businesses.
- Demonstrated ability to review complex individual and business tax returns.
- Strong tax-planning, research, and client advisory skills.
- Experience supervising and developing junior professionals.
- A stable employment history demonstrating long‑term commitment and professional growth.
- Strong communication, organization, and relationship‑building skills.
- Comfortable working onsite in Dallas.
The anticipated base salary is $140,000-$160,000, depending on experience and overall fit.
The firm offers an onsite, collaborative working environment with manageable busy‑season expectations of approximately 55 hours per week from January through April. This is an opportunity to perform sophisticated work for successful Texas clients without the unsustainable hours often associated with larger public accounting firms.
