Market Sector Leader

A leading global architecture and engineering firm with over 100 years of legacy is seeking a Market Sector Leader for their Dallas, Texas office. This established firm specializes in transformative design across multiple sectors, with offices strategically located throughout the United States. Their portfolio encompasses federal, healthcare, aviation, education, and commercial projects, delivered through integrated architecture, engineering, and interior design services.

This is an excellent opportunity for an entrepreneurial leader who enjoys building client relationships, developing market strategy, and influencing the direction of a growing practice while remaining connected to project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to achieve annual revenue and growth objectives within an assigned market sector.
  • Cultivate new client relationships while expanding partnerships with existing clients through trusted advisor relationships.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new project opportunities, maintaining a healthy pipeline of qualified pursuits.
  • Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and competitive activity to identify emerging opportunities and position the firm for continued success.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, developers, contractors, consultants, and other key industry stakeholders.
  • Partner with marketing and technical teams to develop compelling pursuit strategies, proposals, presentations, and client-specific messaging.
  • Serve as a primary client contact, ensuring exceptional service, responsiveness, and long-term client satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership and project teams to align business development efforts with operational goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Mentor and support team members in client engagement and business development best practices.
  • Participate in industry organizations, conferences, and networking events to elevate the firm's visibility and strengthen professional relationships.
  • Depending on experience and business needs, maintain involvement in project leadership, technical oversight, or project management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience within the AEC industry, including a strong background in project delivery, client management, or business development.
  • Previous leadership experience with responsibility for driving growth, developing client relationships, or managing teams.
  • Professional licensure (Registered Architect, Professional Engineer, NCIDQ, or equivalent) is highly preferred.
Desired Skills & Experiences:
  • Proven success developing new business, expanding existing client relationships, and achieving revenue growth.
  • Strong understanding of market trends, client priorities, and the project delivery process within the AEC industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic pursuits, negotiate contracts, and close complex opportunities.
  • Experience collaborating across architecture, engineering, planning, or multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong business acumen with experience in fee development, contract negotiations, and project delivery methodologies.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple pursuits and priorities simultaneously.
  • Natural leader with strong mentoring, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations and industry associations is preferred.
