Lead Technical Director / Set Coordinator (26' Box Truck Driver)
Lead Technical Director / Set Coordinator (Touring)

Wishing Star Productions is seeking an experienced Lead Technical Director / Set Coordinator for our non-union national tour of Curious George and the Golden Meatball
.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced touring environment, enjoys problem-solving, and takes pride in leading a smooth, efficient load-in and load-out. This individual will oversee all technical aspects of the production while helping maintain the show's scenery, props, and equipment throughout the tour.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading and coordinating all load-ins and load-outs with local venue crews.
  • Driving a 26-foot box truck between tour stops (clean driving record required).
  • Maintaining and organizing all scenery, props, tools, and backstage equipment.
  • Performing routine repairs and preventative maintenance on the set.
  • Working closely with the Stage Manager, Lighting Director, and Producer to ensure each performance runs smoothly.
  • Assisting with venue advances regarding technical needs when necessary.
  • Ensuring all equipment is packed safely and efficiently for travel.
  • Helping create a positive, collaborative, and solution-oriented work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Previous touring or road-show experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with scenic construction, carpentry, and basic theatrical repairs.
  • Comfortable leading crews and communicating professionally with presenters and venue staff.
  • Ability to lift heavy scenery and work long, active days during travel.
  • Valid driver's license with experience driving a 26-foot box truck (or similar commercial-sized vehicle).
  • Organized, dependable, adaptable, and calm under pressure.
  • Positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills are a must.

Compensation

Starting at $850/week plus $100/week per diem (negotiable based on experience).

Tour Information

Non-Union National Tour

Fall Tour:
October 1 – November 17, 2026 (dates subject to change)

Holiday Break

Spring Tour:
January 10 – March 5, 2027 (dates subject to change)

Rehearsals in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

DFW-based applicants preferred, though exceptions may be made for the right candidate.
