Job Description:Position Summary
The Senior Scrum Master will lead Agile delivery across Accounting and Finance teams while also serving as a strong project delivery partner within the organization's Project Management Office (PMO) governance framework. This role combines hands‑on Scrum leadership, project and program management discipline, and financial-domain understanding to drive predictable execution, transparency, and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate is experienced working with Finance stakeholders, technology teams, and cross‑functional partners and can seamlessly operate across Agile and traditional project management environments. The Senior Scrum Master will facilitate Agile ceremonies, remove delivery impediments, manage dependencies and risks, and ensure projects meet established PMO standards for planning, reporting, governance, and executive communication.
Key Responsibilities Agile / Scrum Leadership- Serve as Scrum Master for one or more Accounting and Finance delivery teams.
- Facilitate effective sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, backlog refinement, and other Agile ceremonies.
- Coach Product Owners, developers, business stakeholders, and delivery teams on Agile principles, Scrum practices, and continuous improvement.
- Identify and remove impediments that impact team productivity, delivery timelines, or business outcomes.
- Promote team accountability, transparency, collaboration, and a healthy Agile delivery culture.
- Monitor team performance and delivery metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Support effective backlog management, prioritization, estimation, and release planning.
- Lead projects and work streams from initiation through implementation, ensuring alignment to scope, schedule, budget, quality, and business objectives.
- Apply PMO governance standards, methodologies, templates, stage gates, reporting requirements, and controls.
- Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, RAID logs, status reports, dependency maps, financial tracking, and executive‑level reporting.
- Coordinate project governance activities, including steering committee materials, stage reviews, decision logs, and escalation processes.
- Proactively identify project risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, and resource constraints; develop mitigation and escalation plans.
- Ensure project documentation and delivery artifacts meet PMO standards and audit/compliance expectations.
- Manage cross‑functional dependencies across Accounting, Finance, Technology, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and other business functions.
- Provide clear and timely communication to senior leadership regarding project status, risks, decisions, and required actions.
- Partner closely with Accounting and Finance leaders and subject matter experts to translate business objectives into actionable delivery plans.
- Support initiatives such as financial systems implementations, process improvements, regulatory or control‑driven projects, reporting enhancements, close optimization, automation, and data initiatives.
- Understand finance processes and terminology sufficiently to anticipate delivery impacts and facilitate productive discussions between business and technology teams.
- Help teams balance Agile delivery practices with financial controls, audit requirements, governance standards, and organizational policies.
