Operations Manager, Structural Engineer
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Structural Project Manager with a strong background in commercial interior build-outs and structural modifications within existing buildings.
This role is focused on managing structural scopes that support high-end interior environments. This is not a design-only role. This is not a furniture, finish, or product distribution position.
We are looking for professionals who understand structural execution inside active commercial spaces. Tight schedules. Occupied buildings. Structural revisions. Coordination with architects and general contractors. No room for error.
If your experience is primarily architectural design, owner-side representation, or product sales, this will not be the right fit.
What You Will Manage
You will oversee commercial interior construction projects from drywall through closeout. Projects often include high-profile corporate environments such as executive offices, boardrooms, and mission-critical work spaces where attention to detail is critical and mistakes are not tolerated.
Project values can range from individual six-figure interior scopes to large multi-phase corporate buildouts.
What We Are Looking For
We are specifically targeting candidates who have worked for companies that actually perform interior construction work.
Ideal backgrounds include experience with:
• Interior subcontractors or commercial interior contractors
• Drywall, framing, ceilings, flooring, millwork, glass, doors, and finishes
• Coordinating multiple trades simultaneously
• Working under a General Contractor or acting as the interior build lead
• Managing field crews, schedules, manpower, and sequencing
• Handling change orders, field measurements, RFIs, and punch lists
• Operating in occupied or high-expectation corporate environments
Candidates with experience at trade contractors such as drywall, flooring, tile, or millwork companies tend to be a strong fit due to their exposure to real jobsite pressures and coordination requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage structural scopes for commercial interior projects from handoff through closeout
• Coordinate engineers, architects, contractors, and field teams
• Maintain structural schedules and adjust to real-time field conditions
• Review structural submittals, RFIs, and change documentation
• Monitor budgets and cost impacts related to structural revisions
• Conduct coordination meetings and maintain clear stakeholder communication
• Ensure structural quality, safety, and compliance with design intent
• Drive projects to completion under tight timelines and high-performance standards
Why This Role Appeals to the Right Candidate
This is an opportunity to work on sophisticated, high-visibility commercial interior projects where execution matters. The work is challenging, fast-paced, and detail-driven. Success in this role comes from experience, accountability, and the ability to lead under pressure.
If you have built interiors in the real world and are looking for a role where your construction expertise truly matters, this opportunity will align well with your background.
Compensation & Benefits- Competitive base salary and performance bonus potential.
- Comprehensive health coverage and 401(k) retirement plan.
- Paid time off and holidays.
- Opportunity for long-term growth within a stable and reputable organization.
What This Role Is Not
To avoid confusion, this role is not intended for candidates whose experience is primarily in:
• Interior design or architectural design
• Furniture, finishes, or material sales
• Product distribution or supplier coordination
• Owner-side planning without field execution responsibility
• Retail strip mall or franchise restaurant construction only
This role requires thick skin, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage constant moving parts in active construction environments.
