Project Engineer, Civil Engineering

Southland Holdings is currently accepting resumes for highly motivated civil construction professionals to join our team as a Project Engineer in the Dallas, TX area. We are seeking talented, sharp‑minded civil engineers and construction managers with solid construction experience to help staff upcoming projects.

• Experience in civil and mechanical infrastructure, including process piping (must).
• Housing and living allowance provided.

• Develop, monitor and update integrated project plans and schedules to ensure efficient project execution.
• Prepare baseline scheduling and schedule‑basis documents for project team approval.
• Assess impacts to the critical path and near‑critical activities; report findings to the project team.
• Monitor schedule deviations and variances and assist in developing alternative methods for corrective action.
• Provide schedule progress reports, trending charts and schedule analysis on a periodic basis.
• Ensure credibility of the information contained in the schedule.
• Review schedules with project team members to incorporate accurate, timely data.
• Verify schedule integrity and evaluate logic and float paths.
• Evaluate activity sequences for constructability.
• Analyze change orders for schedule impacts.
• Load schedules as required by the project team.
• Perform job‑site walks to verify physical progress of scheduled activities.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Prepare project submittals.
• Draft RFIs, subcontracts, purchase orders and negotiate contract pricing to stay under budget.
• Use Microsoft Project or Primavera for scheduling.
• Develop budgeting and cost projections.
• Perform extensive word processing, including letters and correspondence to owners and engineers.
• Attend progress meetings.
• Read and interpret plans and specifications.
• Communicate verbally and electronically in an educated and professional manner with owners and engineers.
• Work in the office and spend time on‑site to understand construction progress.
• Manage and schedule deliveries from suppliers.
• Schedule and coordinate subcontractors.

• Daily installation quantity record keeping.
• Daily start and stop station recording for record drawings.
• Equipment hour tracking.
• Meet with subcontractors and suppliers on site.
• Attend necessary field meetings and take progress photos.

• Construction or related degree with 3 to 5 years of construction scheduling experience.
• Excellent computer skills and analytical ability.
• Experience working with Primavera P6.
• Understanding of industrial construction processes.
• Ability to interpret contract specifications and drawings.
• Knowledge of contract procedures and principles.
• Effective communication and team‑working skills.
• Understanding of construction logic and sequencing for complex projects.

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
