Black & Veatch is seeking Construction Manager II to support the construction of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including pump stations. Construction Manager II will support the construction management team including construction managers, inspectors, project managers, design engineers, and contractors in resolving technical issues, maintaining compliance with contract requirements, and ensuring successful project delivery. This role involves a combination of field inspections, quality control/quality assurance, technical coordination, document control, and construction administration support from project initiation through completion.
Key Responsibilities- Perform field inspections to verify construction work complies with contract documents, specifications, and quality standards
- Support implementation of project quality control and quality assurance requirements
- Track and maintain quality records including inspection reports, testing results, and compliance documentation
- Review contractor submittals and RFIs for accuracy and conformance with contract requirements
- Support field inspection and quality verification of excavations and concrete construction activities
- Verify installation of process piping and mechanical equipment in accordance with specifications
- Review construction schedules and identify risks, conflicts, or delays
- Monitor progress against baseline schedules and report deviations
- Review contractor pay applications for accuracy and progress verification
- Assist in reviewing and processing change orders including supporting documentation
- Prepare quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for change management
- Support cost tracking and coordination with project management
- Promote a safety‑first culture across all field activities
- Coordinate with design engineers and contractors to resolve technical and field issues
- Track and maintain logs for submittals, RFIs, and equipment
- Issue Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) for non‑compliant work and track corrective actions to closure
- Support document control using systems such as Procore, e‑Builder, or Project mates
- Attend meetings and assist with preparation of agendas and meeting minutes
- Assist with documentation, reporting, and project closeout activities
- Maintain organized project records for compliance and handover
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Science, or a related field
- 3–5 years of experience in engineering design or construction
- Experience with water treatment plant design or construction
- Experience with pump station design or construction
- Experience with concrete field testing and inspection
- Familiarity with process piping and mechanical equipment (pumps, valves, treatment systems, etc.)
- Experience with document control systems such as Procore, e‑Builder, or Project mates
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- CCM (Certified Construction Manager II) certification or working towards CCM
- EIT (Engineer‑in‑Training) and working towards Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
- Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, or related field preferred, or relevant field experience.
- 3+ years construction supervisory experience required.
