The Project Executive provides strategic leadership and oversight for multiple commercial construction projects for a leading regional mechanical contractor. This role is responsible for driving project performance, managing project teams, overseeing financial results, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards. The Project Executive serves as a key liaison between internal teams, clients, contractors, and project stakeholders while overseeing a portfolio of large-scale construction projects.
This position oversees a portfolio of large-scale commercial construction projects, including projects with individual contract values exceeding $30 million and total portfolio values often surpassing $100 million. Responsibilities include project financial oversight, forecasting, resource planning, client relationship management, and guiding projects through all phases of delivery, from pre-construction through closeout.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and mentor Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and Project Engineers.
- Provide executive oversight for multiple commercial construction projects simultaneously.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contract requirements, design specifications, budgets, schedules, and quality standards.
- Review project plans, specifications, schedules, and budgets to identify risks, opportunities, and cost‑saving measures.
- Monitor project financial performance, including forecasting, cost‑to‑complete analysis, billing, change orders, and project closeout.
- Manage project portfolios that may include individual projects exceeding $30 million and aggregate portfolios exceeding $100 million.
- Coordinate with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and design teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee procurement activities and ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Collaborate with field leadership to assess manpower needs and allocate resources effectively.
- Lead pre‑construction, progress, and post‑construction meetings.
- Review and resolve project issues related to scope, schedule, cost, quality, and safety.
- Maintain consistent communication with clients and key stakeholders to ensure project success and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with all company, client, and regulatory safety requirements.
- Support business growth through client relationship management and identification of future project opportunities.
- 10+ years of experience managing commercial construction projects, preferably within mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, or related building systems.
- Proven experience overseeing projects with contract values of $20 million or greater.
- Demonstrated success managing multiple large‑scale projects simultaneously.
- Strong background in project financial management, forecasting, budgeting, cost control, and project closeout.
- Experience leading and developing project management teams.
- Comprehensive understanding of construction contracts, scheduling, procurement, and project delivery methods.
- OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
- Proficiency with construction management software and project controls systems.
- Commercial, healthcare, education, institutional, mission‑critical, government, or industrial construction projects.
- Mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, or specialty contracting experience.
- Oversight of complex, multi‑phase construction programs.
- Base salary range: $175,000–$180,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
