The Director of Preconstruction will provide leadership across all preconstruction activities, overseeing project pursuits, estimating, client engagement, and team development.
This individual will work closely with executive leadership, operations teams, clients, and design partners to ensure successful project outcomes from early pursuit through GMP approval and project handoff.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capabilities, extensive preconstruction experience, and a proven ability to develop teams while building lasting client relationships.
Client & Industry Leadership- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, consultants, and key project stakeholders
- Serve as a senior client‑facing representative throughout the preconstruction process
- Support business development initiatives and generate new project opportunities
- Participate in industry, professional, and community organizations
- Lead and oversee all preconstruction activities across multiple projects and markets
- Monitor project progress and ensure successful execution of preconstruction strategies
- Oversee project planning, budgeting, and GMP development
- Ensure project teams understand contractual requirements and project objectives
- Lead RFQ and RFP responses and support project interview processes
- Develop pursuit strategies and assist in securing negotiated opportunities
- Collaborate with leadership teams to position projects for success
- Lead, mentor, and develop preconstruction team members
- Implement training programs and promote best practices across the department
- Manage departmental initiatives, budgets, and overall business unit performance
- Conduct market analysis and support strategic growth initiatives
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 13+ years of experience within Preconstruction or Estimating
- Proven experience leading and mentoring high‑performing teams
- Strong background in commercial construction projects
- Extensive knowledge of estimating and preconstruction processes and software
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client‑facing skills
- Ability to lead multiple teams and projects simultaneously
