Mechanical Estimator – Commercial Mechanical Construction

Senior Level Mechanical Estimator

Salary: $105,000 - $140,000 per year

• Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for commercial mechanical construction projects
• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to fully understand project scope and requirements
• Perform quantity takeoffs for HVAC, piping, plumbing, and sheet metal systems
• Solicit, evaluate, and analyze subcontractor and vendor quotations
• Develop pricing strategies, scope qualifications, exclusions, and proposal documentation
• Review architectural, structural, civil, and MEP plans to identify scope impacts and potential risks
• Identify value engineering opportunities and cost‑saving alternatives
• Collaborate with business development teams to support proposal development and bid submissions
• Communicate project risks, scope concerns, specification issues, and bid clarifications to internal stakeholders and clients
• Maintain organized bid files, estimating records, and project documentation
• Participate in customer meetings, project interviews, and preconstruction discussions as needed
• Support project turnover meetings to ensure a seamless transition from estimating to operations
• Assist with contract reviews, change order pricing, and project negotiations when required
• Mentor and support junior estimators as appropriate

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred
• Minimum 2 years of estimating experience within commercial mechanical construction required
• Experience estimating HVAC, piping, plumbing, sheet metal, or MEP systems
• Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, methods, and building systems
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
• Experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs and preparing comprehensive project estimates
• Knowledge of vendor and subcontractor procurement processes
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and construction management platforms
