Job Purpose

The Project Engineer (PE) is a liaison between the project’s field and corporate office. This role supports the Project Management and Superintendent team by coordinating, tracking, and completing a wide variety of tasks to meet the technical requirements of the project.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Requests for Information (RFIs)
    • Prepare, track, update, and distribute project RFIs using Procore.
    • Tag RFIs to drawings in Procore.
    • File RFIs according to the uniform filing structure.
  • Weekly Subcontractor Meetings
    • Obtain a 4‑Week look‑ahead schedule from the Lead Superintendent and prepare the meeting agenda and minutes.
    • Provide an updated Plan Log with revisions and the RFI log.
    • Obtain a weekly safety topic from the Lead Superintendent.
  • MSDS Management
    • Obtain and save all MSDS documents in the project file folders according to the uniform filing structure.
    • Ensure the MSDS binder is easily accessible and up‑to‑date.
  • Daily Reports
    • Ensure subcontractors submit daily reports in Procore that include: number of workers, description of work performed, and any delays and responsible party.
  • Submittals
    • Review, process, and track all project submittals in Procore.
    • Verify that materials delivered to site match approved submittals and report any discrepancies promptly.
    • File submittals in accordance with the uniform filing structure so they are easily accessible for project closeout.
  • Permits
    • Maintain permit logs and ensure permits are saved in the project files according to the uniform filing structure.
    • Track pending and upcoming permits before expiration.
  • Plans & Revisions
    • Upload, update, and maintain project plans and revisions in Procore to keep the drawing log current.
    • Work with the Assistant Project Manager to maintain all plan documents in both manual hard copies and electronically.
    • Ensure each revision is permitted and stamped copies are kept on hand.
    • Coordinate with Development to identify pages that must be resubmitted to the city.
    • Track the submission of revised pages with the original stamped plan to the city.
    • Coordinate pickup of approved plans and send to A&E for scanning.
    • Save scanned plans, add approved plans to the city‑stamped set, and upload into Procore.
  • Safety
    • Assist the Superintendent with daily safety walks and identify any issues.
    • Report issues to subcontractors’ foremen and the superintendent for immediate correction.
    • Document and save repeated offenses; email the subcontractor main office (copy PM) if an issue continues or is not corrected.
    • Prepare the Safety Binder and safety meeting sign‑in sheet.
    • Distribute the Safety Topic of the Week packet in English and Spanish.
    • Obtain signed copies of the packet for subcontractor employees and gather contact information for the designated safety monitor of each subcontractor.
    • Assist with tracking, documenting, and saving jobsite incidents, including OSHA incident reports, Morgan incident reports, updates to the weekly safety meeting binder, maps to the nearest emergency medical facility, and coordination of delivery routes to ensure safety during deliveries.
  • Inspections
    • Assist the Superintendent with daily on‑site safety inspections and material audits.
    • Create and maintain inspection logs.
  • Schedules
    • Assist the Superintendent with schedule updates.
    • Manage and update project schedules.
    • Ensure the Superintendent team has updated projected and actual schedules prior to each weekly team meeting.
    • Distribute the Lead Superintendent’s 4‑Week look‑ahead at weekly subcontractor meetings.
  • Meeting Minutes
    • Coordinate, schedule, and participate in team and project meetings and prepare meeting minutes for weekly team meetings, QA/QC sessions, subcontractor meetings, and pre‑installation coordination.
  • Project Closeout
    • Request, track, and prepare closeout documents for electronic transfer, including subcontractor and consultant contact lists, submittals, as‑built drawings, and warranty letters.
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Communicate with all subcontractors for the duration of the project.
    • Complete all tasks while coordinating with multiple work groups such as accounting, HR, management, QA/QC, internal and external design professionals, etc.
    • Travel may be required for projects outside the city limits.
