Senior Estimator

Job Summary

DPR Construction is seeking a Senior Estimator with at least 8 years of commercial construction experience. Senior Estimators will work primarily on negotiated commercial projects within our core markets: healthcare, advanced technology, higher education, life sciences and corporate office.

• Work closely with architects, engineers, owners, and subcontractors to coordinate project costs.
• Handle the project from first estimate through subcontract formalization.
• Identify and ask the right questions to provide a complete project cost evaluation.
• Advocate for customers, empowering and informing them throughout the project.
• Provide innovative solutions to complex issues related to cost, lead‑times, trade partners, and specified products or materials.
• Make reliable cost predictions and estimate across all scopes of work.
• Prepare detailed conceptual cost estimates and cost studies from schematic or feasibility‑level documentation.
• Develop variance summaries between estimates and value‑engineering studies as the design evolves.
• Assemble presentation‑worthy estimate packages that clearly communicate project cost.
• Collaborate with the project team to establish staffing and project requirements.
• Understand unit costs and factors that affect construction cost.
• Prepare detailed instructions to bidders, trade‑specific clarifications, and comprehensive bid packages.
• Manage the bidding process, including soliciting bids, communicating with bidders, evaluating subcontractor proposals, and using bid tally sheets.
• Recommend subcontractor awards to customer/owner and negotiate and finalize subcontracts with trade partners.
• Participate in, and often lead, the preparation and presentation of cost and budget information to the customer/owner.
• Contribute to request‑for‑proposal responses and formal presentations for projects.
• Engage and develop business with new and existing customers.
• Lead and facilitate value‑engineering sessions with the project team and design team.
• Review construction contracts to identify key insurance and damages clauses.
• Lead, manage, and motivate project teams during the preconstruction phase.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, estimating software (Win Est, Timberline or similar), take‑off software (On‑Screen Takeoff or similar), BIM tools (Revit, Assemble, etc.), project management software (CMiC or similar), and scheduling software (Primavera or similar).
• Minimum 8years of experience as a commercial construction estimator, preferably within DPR’s core markets.
• Bachelor’s degree is a plus but not required.
• Strong work ethic and a “can‑do” attitude.
